WHAT ARE THE SERVICE ICONS ON MY DASHBOARD?
You may be new to owning a BMW, you may have had 1 for years and you still dont know. Please see below information on what the icons mean and what action you need to take to remedy. Depending on the age of your BMW, your vehicle will be fitted with either the Condition Based Servicing (CBS) or Service Interval Indicator (SII) system; both of which will alert you through dashboard symbols, when your BMW needs attention.
The microfilter/pollen filter should be replaced with every engine oil service. This icon may not be displayed in your BMW.
The oil and oil filter in your BMW’s engine should be replaced to ensure optimum performance and help maintain efficiency. The microfilter should also be replaced.
Brake Fluid Change
The brake fluid in your BMW should be replaced to maintain optimum performance.
Your BMW is due a Vehicle Check Service. This thorough inspection covers a wide variety of elements to help ensure your BMW remains safe, roadworthy and continues to look and perform at its optimum. This symbol may also appear for other vehicle defects that require attention.
The front brake pads on your BMW are close to their wear limit and need replacing. Your brake discs should also be checked.
The rear brake pads on your BMW are close to their wear limit and need replacing. Your brake discs should also be checked.
The spark plugs in your petrol engine should be replaced at every second oil service along with the air filter.
Diesel Particulate Filter
The diesel particulate filter in your BMW may be blocked or need replacing.
Your BMW is due the annual statutory inspection for vehicles 3 years and older.
